His experience working in the dental industry spans more than 18 years. From 2017 to 2018, he served as the vice-chair of the National Association of Dental Plans (NADP) Research Commission. In 2018, he became chair and continues to hold that position today. The commission works to improve and grow the quality and value of the industry research that NADP conducts. Allan has also been a member of the Strategic Planning Task Force since 2020. As a volunteer with NADP, he’s received numerous accolades. His contributions include service on the FAIR Health and Actuary Member Interest Groups and the Sales Survey Task Force. In 2015, the Research Commission presented the Star Award to Allan for providing consistent thought leadership in the design and content of NADP’s statistical surveys. In 2021, Allan received the Don Mayes Leadership Award, recognizing outstanding volunteer leadership spanning three or more years. Allan is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in actuarial science from the University of Hartford. He and his wife, Amy, live in south Florida with their son and daughter.
Dr. Paul J McConnell, DDS, is the Dental Director of Clinical Operations for UnitedHealthcare Dental. He leads a team of dental consultants responsible for the review of claims submitted to the appeals and grievances department. He also coordinates with the utilization management team, provider networks and other key leaders in the enterprise to review and integrate current dental industry trends, client needs and product development. Dr. McConnell’s experience in health care spans more than 25 years, including 15 years in dental. Before joining UnitedHealthcare, Dr. McConnell operated a 9-chair general dental office with a healthy mix of various commercial plans and Medicaid. Prior to dental school, Dr. McConnell served in the Army and obtained an EMT and LPN license while on active duty. He continued working as a nurse in the private sector while earning his bachelor’s degree. After completing dental school at Marquette University, Dr. McConnell returned to active duty and served 4 years as a dentist stationed at Fort Hood, Texas and Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, and served as a dentist providing care to soldiers, civilian contractors and Iraqi interpreters in 2009 He currently lives in rural southern Indiana, near the Kentucky border, with his 3 children.
Colleen Huff, FAADOM, has been in the dental field for over 30 years and has served as a full-time consultant and speaker in the industry since 2011. Her areas of expertise revolve around the revenue cycle with an emphasis on dental insurance. She assists dental practices on how to hone their systems as well as working directly for practices to aid in any accounts receivables clean up. Upon graduating from college in 2004 Matt set out to do exactly what Mom told him… get a job at a “big” company with benefits, so he landed a sales position with one of the largest publicly traded payroll companies, where he would passionately be known as G257.
